On one hand, I can understand why some people think that written documents are better for learning about different cultures. Books and articles allow readers to reflect on the details at their own pace. For example, a well-written book can describe the history, customs, and values of a society in great depth, and readers can go back and reread difficult parts if needed. Written documents can also include more information than what is typically shown in a film, especially when it comes to historical events or complex ideas. Additionally, written records are often created by scholars or experts, ensuring that the information is accurate.

However, I still believe that watching films or videos is a better way to learn about how other people live. In today’s world, people often have limited time, and videos allow them to quickly absorb information. Furthermore, films and videos offer a real-life representation of people’s surroundings, emotions, and behaviors. For example, when watching a documentary about a rural village, viewers can see the landscapes, hear the sounds, and observe the people directly. This gives a more authentic experience that words on a page cannot fully capture. Videos also make learning more enjoyable, which can encourage more people to explore other cultures.

In conclusion, while written documents have their value, I believe that films and videos are a more effective way to learn about the lives of people around the world. They provide a more vivid and engaging experience.
